The Bishop Phillip Coleman, Sr. Education Scholarship


Bishop Phillip Coleman, Sr. was the founding Pastor of Greater Bethlehem Temple Church in Jackson, Mississippi.
A proponent of education,   Bishop Phillip Coleman, Sr. was also a beloved SEDC Council Chairman and Diocesan.

This scholarship has been awarded each year by the SEDC Christian Education Auxiliary.

PURPOSE:

In an effort to promote academic excellence and with an understanding of the need for higher education in our society and in the Kingdom of God, the Bishop Phillip Coleman, Sr. Education Scholarship was created to assist those students of the Southeastern District Council who wish to pursue an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree. 

AWARD AMOUNT:

The scholarship amount is contingent on the amount of funding available, which will be between $500-$1,000.

Qualifications for Applicants:

  1. Grade point average of 3.0 or above
  2. Submission of an official school transcript
  3. SEDC Sunday School student
  4. At least 3 letters of reference from the following: Sunday School Teacher, Pastor, Sunday School Superintendent, Professional School Counselor
  5. A letter of acceptance from the college or university you will attend
  6. Submission of community service activities
  7. Complete application packets
  8. Has never received this scholarship before (recipients can only receive this scholarship once)

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • All packets will be reviewed and scored by the scholarship committee.
  • Required documents must be uploaded in this application.
  • Recipients will be rewarded at the Youth Convention each year.


Deadline: Complete scholarship packets are due by June 1st of each year.
